Neomycin B sulfate, ,® also known as framycetin is a highly purified form of neomycin B, the major component found in standard grade neomycin. Neomycin B has been found to have approximately 65% more biological activity than neomycin C and approximately 90% more biological activity than neomycin A (neamine). Neomycin B and neomycin C are both stereoisomers.Aminoglycosides target the 30S ribosomal subunit resulting in an inability to read mRNA ultimately producing a faulty or nonexistent protein.
