Esomeprazole sodium (Cat No.: A000835) is the sodium salt form of esomeprazole, a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) used to treat acid-related conditions such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), peptic ulcers, and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. It works by irreversibly inhibiting the H⁺/K⁺-ATPase enzyme in gastric parietal cells, thereby reducing stomach acid production. Administered orally or intravenously, it provides long-lasting acid suppression. Common side effects include headache, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. Long-term use may increase the risk of nutrient deficiencies, fractures, and gastrointestinal infections.
