Chlorhexidine HCl is an antiseptic antibacterial agent commonly used as a disinfectant in eye drops, deodorants, creams, and others. Chlorhexidine is also used as an active ingredient in mouthwash to prevent and control dental plaque.<br />
Chlorhexidine HCl is a cationic molecule which interacts with and alters the negatively charged bacterial cell wall. This interaction leads to leakage of cellular components at low concentrations and cellular lysis at higher concentrations.
