Tris(triphenylphosphine)ruthenium(II) chloride(Cat No.:M086179), with the formula [RuCl₂(PPh₃)₃], is a coordination complex containing a ruthenium(II) center coordinated to three triphenylphosphine ligands and two chloride ions. It appears as a dark red to purple crystalline solid and is widely used as a homogeneous catalyst in organic and organometallic synthesis. This complex plays a key role in hydrogenation, transfer hydrogenation, olefin metathesis, and C–C coupling reactions. The bulky phosphine ligands stabilize the metal center while allowing for ligand exchange, making it a valuable precursor in designing more specialized ruthenium-based catalytic systems.
