Sorivudine(CAT: I009563) is an antiviral nucleoside analogue belonging to the pyrimidine class, structurally related to thymidine. It exerts its activity through selective inhibition of varicella-zoster virus (VZV) and herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) replication after intracellular phosphorylation to its active triphosphate form, which disrupts viral DNA synthesis.
