Sarolaner (CAT: I009294) is an antiparasitic agent primarily used in veterinary medicine for the treatment and prevention of flea and tick infestations in dogs and cats. It belongs to the class of isoxazoline compounds and acts as a potent inhibitor of the neurotransmitter gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) receptors in fleas and ticks. By binding to these receptors, sarolaner disrupts the normal functioning of the nervous system of the parasites, leading to paralysis and subsequent death. Sarolaner has a long duration of action, providing sustained protection against fleas and ticks for several weeks.
