MK-0941(Cat No.:I008043)is an experimental glucokinase activator (GKA) developed for type 2 diabetes management. Glucokinase acts as a glucose sensor in pancreatic β-cells and liver, regulating insulin secretion and glucose uptake. By enhancing glucokinase activity, MK-0941 aimed to improve glycemic control and reduce hyperglycemia. Early studies showed glucose-lowering effects, but later clinical trials revealed limitations, including waning efficacy and increased risk of hypoglycemia. These drawbacks halted its clinical development. Despite this, MK-0941 helped advance understanding of glucokinase activators as potential metabolic disease therapies.
