Mequinol(Cat No.:A000772), also known as 4-methoxyphenol, is an organic compound with the molecular formula C7H8O2. It is a derivative of hydroquinone, featuring a methoxy group at the para position. Mequinol appears as a white to off-white crystalline solid and is used in topical formulations for skin depigmentation, often in combination with tretinoin, to treat conditions like solar lentigines and age spots. It acts by inhibiting tyrosinase, the enzyme responsible for melanin production. Mequinol is also employed as a stabilizer and antioxidant in various chemical and polymeric formulations.
