Ganciclovir-d5 is intended for use as an internal standard for the quantification of ganciclovir (Item No. 13853) by GC- or LC-MS. Ganciclovir is a synthetic analog of 2’-deoxy-guanosine that inhibits the replication of human cytomegalovirus (CMV) with an IC50 value of 0.01 μM. It is effective against strains of CMV from human, monkey, mouse, and guinea pig. Formulations containing ganciclovir have been used to treat or prevent CMV infections.
