Entacapone is a peripherally acting inhibitor of catechol-O-methyl transferase. Entacapone is (E)-Isomer of Entacapone polymorphic form A. It is a peripherally acting inhibitor of COMT, catechol-O-methyl transferase, an enzyme involved in the metabolism of catecholamine neurotransmitters and related drugs. It is an antiparkinsonian drug.
