Clomifene Citrate(CAT: A000975) is a nonsteroidal selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERM) widely used as a fertility drug to induce ovulation in women with anovulatory infertility. It acts primarily by antagonizing estrogen receptors in the hypothalamus, disrupting negative feedback and stimulating the release of gonadotropins (FSH and LH), which in turn promote follicular development and ovulation. Clomifene is also used off-label in male infertility to enhance testosterone production. Supplied as the citrate salt for improved solubility and stability, it is typically administered orally. Its dual agonist-antagonist action makes it a cornerstone in reproductive endocrinology and fertility treatment protocols.
