Brevetoxin PbTx-2(Cat No.:T000081)is a highly potent marine neurotoxin produced by the dinoflagellate Karenia brevis, commonly associated with harmful algal blooms known as red tides. Structurally, it is a polyether compound with a ladder-like configuration that binds to voltage-gated sodium channels, causing prolonged activation and disrupted neuronal signaling. PbTx-2 contributes to neurotoxic shellfish poisoning (NSP) in humans and has toxic effects on marine life, particularly fish and marine mammals. It is extensively studied in marine toxicology, neuropharmacology, and environmental monitoring for its impact on public health and coastal ecosystems.
