Trimethylsilyl(trifluoromethane)(CAT: R045449), also known as trimethyl(trifluoromethyl)silane or Ruppert–Prakash reagent, is a powerful reagent used for the introduction of trifluoromethyl (-CF₃) groups into organic molecules. It features a trifluoromethyl group bonded to a trimethylsilyl group, enabling safe and convenient CF₃ transfer in the presence of a fluoride source such as cesium fluoride or tetrabutylammonium fluoride (TBAF). This reagent is widely utilized in fluorine chemistry, drug discovery, and agrochemical development, as the CF₃ group often enhances metabolic stability, lipophilicity, and bioactivity.
