Triisopropylsilyl trifluoromethanesulfonate (Cat No.: R019298) is a highly reactive silylating agent used in organic synthesis to protect alcohols, phenols, and amines by forming triisopropylsilyl (TIPS) ethers or derivatives. The bulky TIPS group offers excellent steric protection and stability under a variety of reaction conditions. The triflate leaving group enhances reactivity, enabling efficient silylation at mild temperatures. TIPS triflate is particularly useful in multistep syntheses where selective protection is required and is compatible with a wide range of functional groups.
