tert-Butyldimethylsilyl chloride (TBDMS-Cl)(CAT: R047041) is an organosilicon reagent (C₆H₁₅ClSi) widely used in organic synthesis as a silylating agent for protecting alcohols, phenols, and amines. The bulky tert-butyldimethylsilyl (TBDMS) group provides excellent stability against acidic and basic conditions, as well as resistance to nucleophilic attack, making it ideal for multi-step synthetic sequences. TBDMS ethers can be selectively deprotected under mild conditions using fluoride sources such as tetrabutylammonium fluoride (TBAF). Due to its high efficiency, functional group compatibility, and ability to enhance compound stability during synthesis, TBDMS-Cl is a valuable reagent in medicinal chemistry, natural product synthesis, and materials research.
