Tert-butyl (1R,2S)-2-hydroxycyclopentylcarbamate(Cat No.:M142810) is a chemical compound. It is a derivative of cyclopentylcarbamate, containing a tert-butyl group and a hydroxy group at the 2-position of the cyclopentane ring. This compound is used in organic synthesis as a protecting group for hydroxy groups, particularly in the preparation of pharmaceuticals and other complex organic molecules. The tert-butyl group serves to temporarily mask the hydroxy group’s reactivity, allowing specific reactions to be carried out selectively. After the desired reactions are completed, the tert-butyl group can be removed to regenerate the free hydroxy group.
