Sulfacytine（Cat No.:R025382）is a short-acting sulfonamide antibiotic belonging to the class of synthetic antimicrobial agents that inhibit bacterial folic acid synthesis. It acts as a competitive inhibitor of dihydropteroate synthase, blocking the incorporation of para-aminobenzoic acid (PABA) into folate, which is essential for bacterial DNA and protein synthesis. Sulfacytine exhibits broad-spectrum antibacterial activity, particularly against Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms, but its clinical use has declined due to rapid renal excretion, low potency, and resistance.
