Sodium sulfide nonahydrate (CAT: R030154) is an inorganic salt composed of sodium cations and sulfide anions, crystallized with nine molecules of water. It appears as colorless to yellowish crystalline solids with a strong odor of hydrogen sulfide due to slow hydrolysis in moist air. Highly soluble in water, it forms strongly alkaline solutions. Sodium sulfide nonahydrate is widely used in leather processing (dehairing and deliming), ore flotation, pulp and paper manufacturing, and as a reducing agent in chemical synthesis. It also serves as a source of sulfide ions in laboratory reactions.
