Rose oxide(CAT: L046388) is a monoterpene compound prized for its strong, fresh, floral aroma reminiscent of rose petals. Naturally occurring in rose oil, geranium oil, and other essential oils, it exists as a mixture of four stereoisomers, with the (2S,4R)-cis isomer being the most olfactorily potent. Widely used in perfumery, cosmetics, and flavoring, rose oxide imparts a green, slightly fruity rose scent even at low concentrations. Beyond its fragrance applications, it is also studied in flavor chemistry and sensory science for its role in enhancing aromatic complexity.
