Prostaglandin E₂ (CAT: R009261) is a naturally occurring bioactive lipid and one of the most abundant prostaglandins in mammalian systems. Derived from arachidonic acid via the cyclooxygenase (COX) pathway, PGE₂ plays a central role in inflammation, pain, fever regulation, and vascular homeostasis. It exerts its effects through binding to four G-protein–coupled receptors (EP1–EP4), enabling diverse physiological responses including immune modulation, angiogenesis, gastrointestinal protection, and reproductive processes. In research, PGE₂ is extensively studied in cancer biology, immunology, neurology, and cardiovascular disease, making it an essential mediator for understanding both normal physiology and pathological mechanisms.
