Potassium ferrocyanide trihydrate (Cat No.: M057679) is a yellow crystalline coordination compound containing a ferrocyanide anion complexed with potassium ions and three water molecules of hydration. Despite containing cyanide ligands, it is relatively non-toxic due to the strong binding of cyanide to iron. It is widely used in analytical chemistry for detecting metal ions, in blueprint production (cyanotype process), and as an anti-caking agent in salt. Additionally, it serves as a precursor in pigment synthesis, such as the production of Prussian blue.
