Pheneturide(Cat No.:I008744)is a long-acting anticonvulsant belonging to the ureide class of antiepileptic drugs. Structurally related to phenobarbital and phenytoin, it is used primarily in the management of generalized tonic-clonic (grand mal) and partial seizures. Pheneturide functions by stabilizing neuronal membranes and reducing excitability through modulation of sodium channels, thereby inhibiting abnormal electrical activity in the brain. Though less commonly used today due to the availability of newer agents, it remains of interest in pharmacological research and historical treatment approaches for epilepsy and seizure disorders, particularly in drug-resistant cases.
