Pentaerythritol(Cat No.:R045640)is a white, crystalline polyol compound with the formula C(CH₂OH)₄. It contains four hydroxyl groups attached to a central quaternary carbon atom, making it highly symmetrical and multifunctional. Widely used in the chemical industry, pentaerythritol serves as a key building block in the production of alkyd resins, varnishes, lubricants, plasticizers, and flame retardants. Its polyhydric nature imparts excellent stability, water solubility, and reactivity in esterification processes. Additionally, it is used in explosives such as pentaerythritol tetranitrate (PETN). Pentaerythritol is non-toxic and environmentally benign under standard conditions.
