P4T2F-HD is a polythiophene (PT) family polymer featuring fluoro and alkyl substitutions along its backbone, designed to optimize molecular interactions and film morphology for organic solar cells (OSCs). Fluorination strengthens interchain interactions, enhancing crystallinity and charge transport. Unlike P3HT, which tends to form fully mixed bulk heterojunction (BHJ) films with non-fullerene acceptors, P4T2F-HD exhibits lower miscibility with materials such as Y6-BO (BTP-4F-12). This controlled miscibility promotes favorable molecular packing and nanoscale phase separation in the active layer, enabling efficient exciton dissociation and charge extraction. These features make P4T2F-HD a promising polymer donor for high-performance OSCs.
