p-Styrene sulfonic acid sodium salt(Cat No.:R070910)is an aromatic sulfonated monomer with the molecular formula C8H7NaO3S. It consists of a styrene backbone bearing a sulfonic acid group at the para (4-) position, neutralized with a sodium ion. This white, hygroscopic powder is highly water-soluble and widely used in polymer chemistry, particularly in the production of ion-exchange resins, polyelectrolytes, and proton-conducting membranes. It imparts hydrophilicity, ionic conductivity, and thermal stability to copolymers. Due to its reactive vinyl group, it readily undergoes free-radical polymerization for applications in fuel cells, sensors, and water treatment.
