o-Nitrophenylsulfonyl Chloride(Cat No.:R021726)is an electrophilic sulfonylating agent featuring a nitro group ortho to the sulfonyl chloride moiety on a benzene ring. It is widely used in organic synthesis for introducing the o-nitrophenylsulfonyl (nosyl) protecting group onto amines and other nucleophiles. The nosyl group offers excellent stability under a variety of conditions and can be selectively removed under mild reductive or nucleophilic conditions. This reagent is valuable in peptide synthesis, heterocycle construction, and medicinal chemistry workflows, where orthogonal protection strategies are essential for multi-step synthesis.
