N,N-Diisopropylethylamine (Cat No.:R021714) is a sterically hindered, non-nucleophilic organic base with the molecular formula C8H19N. Also known as Hünig’s base, it is commonly used in organic synthesis, particularly in peptide coupling and esterification reactions, where minimal side reactions are desired. DIPEA’s bulky isopropyl groups prevent nucleophilic attack, making it ideal for reactions requiring selective deprotonation without substitution. It is a clear, colorless liquid with a characteristic amine odor, and is air- and moisture-sensitive. Proper ventilation and protective measures are recommended during handling.
