N-(1,3-Dimethylbutyl)-N’-phenyl-p-phenylenediamine (Cat No.: M003655), also known as 6PPD, is an antioxidant and antiozonant widely used in the rubber industry to protect tires and other rubber products from degradation caused by ozone, heat, and oxidation. It prolongs the material’s durability and flexibility under harsh environmental conditions. 6PPD reacts with ozone at the rubber surface, forming a protective layer that prevents cracking. While effective, it has raised environmental concerns due to the toxic effects of its transformation products, such as 6PPD-quinone, on aquatic organisms.
