MRS 1523(CAT:I008186) is a potent and selective adenosine A₃ receptor (A₃AR) antagonist, with Kᵢ values of 18.9 nM (human) and 113 nM (rat), demonstrating strong selectivity over A₁ and A₂A receptors. In neuronal studies, MRS 1523 exerts antihyperalgesic effects by blocking N-type Ca²⁺ channels and suppressing action potentials in rat dorsal root ganglion (DRG) neurons. It also antagonizes cordycepin-induced tumor cell growth and inhibits NECA-induced endothelial progenitor cell migration in a dose-dependent manner (Kᵢ = 147 nM). By modulating A₃AR signaling, MRS 1523 is a valuable pharmacological tool for investigating pain mechanisms, cancer biology, and vascular function.
