Methylglucamine antimonate(Cat No.: M071690), also known as meglumine antimoniate, is an organoantimonial compound used primarily in the treatment of leishmaniasis, a parasitic disease. It contains pentavalent antimony complexed with N-methyl-D-glucamine, enhancing its solubility and bioavailability. Administered via injection, it interferes with parasite metabolism, leading to their death. Despite its efficacy, treatment requires careful monitoring due to potential side effects like hepatotoxicity and cardiotoxicity. Methylglucamine antimonate is included in the World Health Organization’s list of essential medicines for neglected tropical diseases.
