Methyl gypsogenin-3-O-glucuronide (CAT: I017520) is a naturally occurring saponin precursor widely found in plants of the Gypsophila genus. This compound plays a critical role in the biosynthetic pathway of triterpenoid saponins, which are valued for their diverse biological activities. Experimental studies show that treatment of Gypsophila paniculata cell cultures with this compound significantly suppresses the incorporation of [14C]acetate into saponins and related precursors, while leaving sterol and steryl glucoside biosynthesis unaffected. These findings suggest that Methyl gypsogenin-3-O-glucuronide selectively modulates saponin biosynthesis, making it a useful tool for studying triterpenoid metabolic regulation in plant systems.
