Methyclothiazide (Cat No.: A000677) is a thiazide diuretic used to treat hypertension and edema associated with heart failure, liver disease, or kidney disorders. It works by inhibiting sodium and chloride reabsorption in the distal convoluted tubules of the kidneys, promoting diuresis and reducing blood volume. This leads to lowered blood pressure and decreased fluid retention. Methyclothiazide is taken orally and has a longer duration of action than some other thiazides. Side effects may include electrolyte imbalance, dehydration, dizziness, and increased uric acid levels.
