Medifoxamine (Cat No.: I031858) is an atypical antidepressant belonging to the arylalkylamine class, investigated primarily in Europe during the 1970s–1980s. It functions as a serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SNRI) while also exhibiting mild dopaminergic activity, contributing to its mood-enhancing effects. Unlike many conventional antidepressants, Medifoxamine was reported to have fewer sedative or anticholinergic side effects. Although later withdrawn from clinical development, it remains of interest in neuropharmacology research as a reference compound for studying monoamine regulation, depression treatment mechanisms, and drug design.
