Losartan potassium(Cat No.:A000511)is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) with the molecular formula C22H23ClKN6O, used to treat high blood pressure, protect kidney function in diabetic nephropathy, and reduce the risk of stroke in hypertensive patients. It works by selectively blocking the AT1 receptor, preventing the vasoconstrictive and aldosterone-secreting effects of angiotensin II, leading to vasodilation and decreased blood pressure. Administered orally, losartan is well-tolerated and may be used alone or in combination with other antihypertensives. It also offers cardiovascular and renal protective benefits beyond blood pressure control.
