For research use only. Not for therapeutic Use.
Lithium Nickel Manganese Cobalt Oxide is a next-generation layered cathode material for lithium-ion batteries, widely recognized for electric vehicle (EV) applications due to its high energy density, strong rate capability, and cost efficiency. Delivering ~200 mAh·g⁻¹ capacity with an average discharge potential of ~3.8 V vs. Li⁺/Li, NMC811 offers ~25% higher energy density compared to LiCoO₂. Its α-NaFeO₂ type (R3m) layered structure provides structural robustness with alternating lithium and transition metal layers in octahedral coordination. Electrochemical fluorination (ECF) further improves cycling stability, enabling first discharge capacities of 203 mAh·g⁻¹ at C/10 and ~98% retention after 100 cycles.
