Isoflurane(CAT: R059047) is a halogenated ether used as a volatile inhalation anesthetic in human and veterinary medicine. It is a clear, colorless liquid with a pungent, slightly sweet odor, nonflammable, and stable under normal conditions. Isoflurane provides rapid induction and recovery due to its relatively low blood–gas partition coefficient, allowing precise control of anesthesia depth. It produces muscle relaxation and amnesia with minimal metabolism, being primarily exhaled unchanged. Isoflurane is often preferred for maintaining anesthesia during lengthy surgical procedures.
