Iron(III) oxide (Cat No.: M049210), also known as hematite, is a reddish-brown, crystalline compound composed of iron in the +3 oxidation state and oxygen. It occurs naturally as a major iron ore and is widely used as a pigment (red iron oxide) in paints, coatings, ceramics, and cosmetics. It is also employed in the production of iron and steel, polishing materials (jeweler’s rouge), and ferrite magnets. With high stability and non-toxicity, Fe₂O₃ is valuable in environmental remediation and catalysis.
