Iberiotoxin (Cat No.: R014712) is a peptide toxin derived from the venom of the Buthus tamulus scorpion. It specifically and potently blocks large-conductance calcium-activated potassium (BKCa) channels by binding to their extracellular domain. This inhibition affects membrane potential and calcium signaling, making iberiotoxin a valuable tool in electrophysiological and neurobiological research. With 37 amino acids and three disulfide bridges, it exhibits high structural stability. Iberiotoxin is commonly used to study smooth muscle contraction, neuronal excitability, and the physiological roles of BKCa channels.
