Glutaric anhydride(Cat No.:R044124)is a five-membered cyclic anhydride derived from glutaric acid, consisting of two carboxylic acid groups joined by a methylene chain. It is a reactive intermediate widely used in organic synthesis, particularly for producing polyesters, polyamides, and pharmaceuticals. Its anhydride functionality makes it useful in acylation reactions, ring-opening polymerizations, and as a crosslinking agent. Glutaric anhydride is also employed in the synthesis of heterocyclic compounds and biologically active molecules. Due to its high reactivity, it must be handled under controlled conditions to avoid hydrolysis and moisture-sensitive degradation.
