Gellan gum (Cat No.: I041812) is a high-purity, water-soluble polysaccharide used in cell culture as a gelling agent to create semi-solid or gel-like media. Produced by the bacterium Sphingomonas elodea, it offers an alternative to agar and supports the growth and immobilization of various cell types, including plant, microbial, and some mammalian cells. Its clarity, consistency, and ability to form gels at low concentrations make it ideal for tissue culture, micropropagation, and 3D culture systems. Gellan gum is typically used in its low-acyl or deacetylated form.
