DL-Menthol (Cat No.: R014251) is a racemic mixture of the two enantiomers of menthol: D-menthol and L-menthol. It is a cyclic terpene alcohol with a characteristic minty aroma and cooling sensation. Unlike the naturally occurring L-menthol, which is widely used in food, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals, DL-menthol is synthetically produced and less intense in its cooling effect. It serves as a flavoring agent, fragrance component, and topical analgesic. DL-menthol is also used in oral hygiene products and in formulations to relieve minor throat and muscle irritations.
