Dibromo(1,5-cyclooctadiene)palladium(II)(Cat No.:L002834), commonly written as PdBr₂(COD), is an organopalladium complex with the molecular formula C₈H₁₂Br₂Pd. It features a palladium(II) center coordinated by two bromide ligands and one 1,5-cyclooctadiene (COD) ligand. This yellow to orange crystalline solid is widely used as a catalyst precursor in organic synthesis, particularly in cross-coupling reactions like Heck and Suzuki couplings. Its COD ligand stabilizes the palladium center while allowing for catalytic activity in solution. The compound is air-sensitive and should be handled under inert atmosphere using glovebox or Schlenk techniques to prevent degradation.
