Dess–Martin Periodinane (CAT: R059577) is a highly efficient, mild oxidizing agent widely used in organic synthesis for the selective oxidation of primary alcohols to aldehydes and secondary alcohols to ketones. Derived from 2-iodobenzoic acid, DMP operates under neutral to slightly acidic conditions and offers excellent functional group tolerance with minimal overoxidation or side reactions. Its solid, stable form and ease of handling make it a preferred reagent in natural product synthesis, pharmaceutical development, and complex molecule construction. Dess–Martin Periodinane is especially valued for its high selectivity, short reaction times, and compatibility with sensitive substrates.
