Derenofylline (CAT: I006358), also known as SLV320, is a potent and selective adenosine A(1) antagonist (Ki=1 nM). It exhibits over 200-fold selectivity for the A(1) receptor compared to other adenosine receptor subtypes. In preclinical studies, SLV320 has shown promise in reducing albuminuria without affecting the glomerular filtration rate (GFR). It has also demonstrated protective effects in preventing the rise of plasma markers associated with nephrectomy. Additionally, SLV320 has shown the ability to attenuate cardiac fibrosis and albuminuria without impacting blood pressure in animal models.
