Dehydroabietic acid (Cat No.: R055278) is a naturally occurring tricyclic diterpenoid resin acid with the molecular formula C₂₀H₂₈O₂. Derived primarily from conifer resins such as rosin, it features an abietane skeleton with a carboxylic acid group and a double bond in the C-ring. Dehydroabietic acid exhibits antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and antifungal properties and is used in the synthesis of bioactive compounds, varnishes, and metal soaps. It also serves as a chemical marker in environmental studies to trace biomass combustion and resin-based industrial emissions.
