DMA-IN-1(CAT: I040353) is a small-molecule inhibitor of DNA adenine methyltransferase (DAM), an essential bacterial enzyme involved in DNA replication, repair, and gene expression regulation. With an IC₅₀ of 48 μM, DMA-IN-1 effectively disrupts methylation of adenine residues in bacterial DNA, impairing key cellular processes. It demonstrates antibacterial activity against Caulobacter crescentus, exhibiting a minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of 35 μM. DMA-IN-1 is a valuable research tool for studying epigenetic regulation in prokaryotes and holds promise for developing novel antimicrobial agents targeting DAM-mediated epigenetic mechanisms, particularly in the context of antibiotic resistance and bacterial pathogenicity.
