D18 (PCE18) is a narrow bandgap donor copolymer featuring an alternating backbone of electron-donating benzodithiophene (BDT) and electron-accepting fused-ring dithienobenzothiadiazole (DTBT) units. Its planar molecular structure and extended conjugation from DTBT confer excellent charge transport properties, with hole mobility reaching 1.59 × 10⁻³ cm² V⁻¹ s⁻¹. When paired with Y6 as the acceptor in single-junction non-fullerene polymer solar cells (NF-PSCs), D18 has achieved efficiencies up to 18.22% with certified results of 17.6%. Additionally, D18 is solution-processable in non-halogenated solvents such as o-xylene, making it an efficient, scalable, and environmentally friendly choice for next-generation OPVs.
