CVT-10216(CAT: I006317) is a highly selective and reversible aldehyde dehydrogenase-2 (ALDH2) inhibitor with an IC50 of 29 nM, showing over 40-fold selectivity against ALDH1 (IC50 = 1.3 µM). Preclinical studies demonstrate its ability to reduce excessive alcohol consumption in alcohol-preferring rats and to produce significant anxiolytic effects. In Fawn-Hooded rats, intraperitoneal administration (3.75–15 mg/kg) increased social interaction in a dose-dependent manner, with a twofold enhancement at 15 mg/kg. In alcohol withdrawal models, CVT-10216 (3.75–15 mg/kg) alleviated anxiety without impairing locomotor activity, highlighting its potential in research on alcohol use disorders and anxiety-related conditions.
