Copper(II) trifluoromethanesulfonate(Cat No.:L012612), commonly known as copper(II) triflate, is an inorganic coordination compound with the formula Cu(OSO₂CF₃)₂. It consists of a copper(II) ion coordinated by two trifluoromethanesulfonate (triflate) anions. This compound is a powerful Lewis acid and is widely used as a catalyst in organic synthesis, including Friedel–Crafts acylation, cycloadditions, and C–C bond-forming reactions. Its high thermal stability and solubility in organic solvents make it suitable for both solution-phase and solid-phase processes. Copper(II) triflate typically appears as a blue-green solid and must be stored in a moisture-free environment to maintain activity.
