Citric acid 1,2-diethyl ester(Cat No.:R058269), also known as diethyl citrate, is a derivative of citric acid in which two of the hydroxyl groups are esterified with ethyl groups. It is a colorless to pale yellow, oily liquid with good solubility in organic solvents. Diethyl citrate is used as a plasticizer, especially in food packaging and pharmaceutical coatings, due to its low toxicity and biodegradability. It also serves as a flavoring agent and stabilizer in food and beverages. Its biocompatibility makes it useful in cosmetic formulations and controlled drug delivery systems.
